Asril Djunaidi is founder of Center for Coastal Community Study based in Ternate – the North Maluku. Recently, he focuses his work on coastal community development and marine conservation. He also assists Nuku University in Tidore as a guest lecturer at Marine Science Faculty. After finished his study at Aquatic Resource Management at Pattimura University, he then gained a Master Degree in Tourism and Marine Environment at Wageningen University, the Netherlands in 2002. Even though, he just start to put his effort and interest to work towards Marine Conservation and Coastal Community Development for the last two years, he wants to learn and always attempt to gain as much as possible the knowledge and technology from any resources. Halmahera REA is an opportunity for him to meet and learn many new things from the worldwide caliber scientists who joint this survey. He will be representing WWF – Indonesia to conduct Turtle Survey as well as assist socio-economic group during the survey. After this survey, he will develop a conservation strategy joint with other interesting parties based on his capacity in Halmahera comprehensively to save turtles.
