ReefBase Dataset: ICRAN SITES DATASET DESCRIPTION: The International Coral Reef Action Network (ICRAN), is a global partnership of coral reef experts who are working to halt and reverse the decline of the health of the world's coral reefs. Made up of some of the world's leading coral reef scientists and conservation groups, ICRAN partners have created a globally integrated action plan to manage and protect coral reefs, based on recommendations from the International Coral Reef Initiative (ICRI). The International Coral Reef Action Network is a coordinated response to ICRI's urgent call to protect coral reefs. Specific sites have been selected to serve as "demonstration sites" based on their proven ability to effectively manage their coral reefs. These sites share local knowledge and successful management practices with other coral reef managers and communities. "Target sites" are sites where best practices implemented at the "demonstration sites" can be adopted. For further information on ICRAN and the sites listed, see: http://www.icran.org ATTRIBUTE DATA: Records in the ICRAN SITES dataset include the following attribute data: Field name Description ID - ReefBase GIS ID Region - ReefBase regional name Subregion - ReefBase sub regional name Country - ReefBase country name Location - ICRAN Site name Type_description - ICRAN Description type T: Targetted Site D: Demonstration site AT: Alternate Targetted site AD: Alternate Demonstration site Lat - Latitude of site Lon - Longitude of site Country_Code - ReefBase Country Code COPYRIGHT AND USE OF DATA Please refer to the specific terms and conditions for use of this ReefBase dataset, as outlined in the "ReefBase Data License".
